Private & Small Group Instruction

Private Instruction

For photographers who want to advance their skills and creative vision, a private workshop with Tony Sweet offers the ultimate in accelerated photography learning. Private workshops are available for individuals and small groups.

This completely custom, personalized photo workshop experience means we are free to go any direction that interests you at any time, whether that’s developing your vision, pushing your composition, or pursuing mastery of specific techniques or styles of nature photography.

Private instruction is ideal for those who prefer one-on-one learning or very small group sizes and for those who don’t have time for a full, 5-day workshop experience.

With over 30 years of teaching experience, this Nikon Legend Behind the Lens knows how to help you see new possibilities, implement the best settings for your camera, lens, and the lighting conditions, experiment to break through your limiters, and achieve new mastery of your craft. You’ll come away with photos in camera at new levels of image quality and artistry—before you even hit the dark room.

“Hard Knocks” Photo Critiques

It can be really hard to get honest feedback on your photos.

Tony knows this all too well. When he was first getting started in photography, transitioning from his career as a professional jazz drummer, camera club critique sessions were pretty gentle and, therefore, not really helpful. Tony’s mentor at the time, Tony Gayhart, started a “Hard Knocks” club to generate honest truths about each other’s work. These critiques were totally honest and, therefore, very helpful.

Tony’s “Hard Knocks” Photo Criques carry on this tradition of helpful honesty and constructive criticism.

How Tony Sweet’s “Hard Knocks” Photo Critiques Work:

  • Submit up to 20 images for a 90-to-120-minute recorded video critique.
  • You get up to 2 hours of honest, supportive, constructive criticism from an accomplished nature photographer.
  • Tony opens each photo in Lightroom and/or Photoshop to offer an initial critique, then begins post-processing adjustments, treating your photos just like he would his own.
  • Critiques include feedback on all aspects of composition, workflow, numerous tips on processing, plus any other aspects Tony feels can improve the emotional and visual impact of your images.

$300. Please contact Susan Milestone at susan@tonysweet.com to submit your photos for this invaluable, honest reflection.
