May 2-6 - Badlands, SD
$1050, limit 10
This Place is like shooting on the moon. Incredible, colorful, graphic, easily accessible, and wide open to interpretation from stitched pans to HDR. There are many outstanding venues for first and last light. The Sheep Mountain area is particularly graphic at sunset, (be aware Sheep Mountain is very remote and there are no bathrooms for 40 miles) The terrain goes from full frame sand stone teepees to soft rolling hills populated by cottonwood trees. Buffalo may be seen in the area, as are prairie dog towns. As with all of our workshops, there is ample field instruction and daily critiques. We'll touch on the various software that we use on images supplied for the critique sessions and they'll be compositional and software presentations.

May 25-28 - Palouse Scouting workshop, Colfax WA
$450, limit 6
limited to previous workshop clients only
The rolling green hills of early summer are exquisite in this wonderful venue. The large cumulous clouds permeate the landsape. Farms and rolling plow fields abound, and if we're lucky, we'll run across bright yellow rapeseed fields! Photographic old barns are plentiful. Aside from the natural scenic beauty, this is a great venue for infrared photography. This is a scouting workshop, so we'll be a little more freewheeling and spontaneous moving around to see what's up to enable us to plan an official workshop in 2011. There is very minimal field instruction and no classroom instruction or presentations, but we'll certainly hang out and have discussions.

August 27-29 Eastern State Penitentiary HDR-Philadelphia, PA with Tony
$450, limit 10

Eastern State Penitentiary is a national monument, a wonderful and graphic venue, and the location used in our new HDR DVD. This location provides texture and detail perfect for HDR: the colorful, cracked paint, rusty prison cell doors, towering guard towers, even Al Capone's "lavish" cell. The photo ops are tremendous and subject to interesting compositional and software driven interpretations. There will be an opening evening presentation on HDR to get you ready to hit the ground running the next day. We'll shoot from 10 am until mid-afternoon on Saturday, and Tony will be working with everyone individually on location. After dinner, we'll have class time to work on processing and technique. Sunday morning we'll critique the images and have final Q & A.
Price includes location instruction, software training, critique session, admission fees, motel prkg fee,and special access area fee.

September 12-16 - Great Smoky Mountains, TN
$1050, limit 10
This is a great time to be in the Smokies. Although it's not quite fall, the greens are very full and slightly over grown, creating a sense of wildness not apparent when the park is more "manicured". There can be ample fog, gentle rain, flowing streams, dewy spiderwebs, and some wildflowers are still with us. The skies can be quite dramatic and the changeable weather lends the Smokies to ever changing scenic possiblilities. Since sunset opportunities are limited, we'll spend at least one evening in the class discussing and illustrating workflow and software used to punch up and/or transform your images.
