Sept. 23-27, 2018:
Cape Cod National Seashore, MA
Visual Artistry nature photography workshop
$1,450, limit 10
Fall is a great time to photograph on Cape Cod. The light can be dramatic and angular and the Provincetown wharf is full of working boats. The tides can greatly affect the beaches creating striations of texture. Also this is a great time for infrared photography! Based out of Eastham, we have a short drive to lighthouses, marshlands, working harbors, small fishing villages, sand dunes and more. We will be having daily critique sessions and assistance in the field. Known for its epic sunrises and sunsets, we will be watching conditions and tides daily to choose the best possible location for our field sessions.
The slideshow below illustrates some of the locations we’ll visit and the types of images you can be shooting with us in Cape Cod.

Participants should have a working knowledge of exposure (f/stop and shutter speed) and know how to operate their equipment. Please bring a laptop computer with a RAW processor and image editing software to prepare your images for critique. Film shooters are encouraged to borrow a digital SLR so that they can have images for critique sessions – and maximize the workshop’s learning experience.
Each day’s schedule varies according to which location we visit that day, how long we shoot and what the weather conditions are. We could photograph all day if conditions are right and then have more class time the following day. Questions and problems will be addressed in the field whenever possible, which is the most effective way to learn nature and landscape photography.
First night at 5 pm
Opening night presentation, Q&A’s, orientation (it would be a good idea to have dinner on your own before the opening meeting).
The next three days
Photograph sunrise and/or early morning and late afternoon and/or sunset – and whenever the light is right. There is a daily critique session as well as illustrating creative software use and photoshop quick tips.
Photograph in the morning or have class time; discussion and final thoughts over breakfast. We should be finished by checkout time.
Personal critique service
To continue your learning beyond the workshop, all participants may add three months of Tony’s personal photo critiques, via email, for just $600. With this service, you’ll receive helpful, informative critiques of 20 of images per month, as well as liberal email support for questions and advice.
