NANPA day 2

March 2nd, 2013

The 2nd day at NANPA was notable because the day finished with a presentation by the great Clyde Butcher. Aside from his incredible and definitive Everglades images, his story was compelling, witty, and his environmental concern is sobering. We plan on visiting his studio on our way from spending time with Bob Singh (Singh Ray filters) on Monday….on our way to the Everglades for a couple of days.

Today, the trade show opened, and these are always fun events, seeing what’s new with the vendors, and more importantly, seeing old friends. We spent most of our time at the GuraGear booth. Their new line of camera bags and accessories are extremely well designed, durable, and light (a full 4 pounds lighter than comparable bags from other major manufacturers!). We purchased (from Hunts) a very cool and compact travel projection screen (Safari Screen 2 Go). With a small projector, the entire system (screen, projector, and stand) can fit into a laptop bag. I kid you not!

Cam Ranger was there. I have one of these and will be posting a blog on it soon. We always enjoy seeing Michael Affeman from Feisol tripods, and their new travel tripod is the bomb! Laurie Rubin from Nik (Google) was in the Nik booth. We haven’t seen her for a while and it’s been great spending time with her.

I finished my second and final presentation today, so tomorrow is just hang day and Sue and I will get out to photograph in downtown Jacksonville.

The lead image was shot while waiting for the elevator and completely processed with Snapseed.

Thanks for visiting and we’ll see you online!

I’ll take a closer look at the Cam Ranger after our seminar, Dave. Lots or prep work.

  3. Glad to see you’re posting more often. I’ll be checking your blog more regularly. And Hello Dave! It’s like a Badlands reunion here:)

Tony: I really like the goal of daily posts; I learn something from everything you put up. I am really interested in your thoughts on the CamRanger, too.
